Oh my goodness, what a treat! I've had some awesome meals in Charlotte but I truly believe this may be the best meal I've had here. I started my meal with a delicious mango margarita. For food, my husband and I shared the tigers milk ceviche, gratin nigiri, a special sushi roll, side of mushrooms, and finished with passion fruit crème brûlée. Truly everything was exceptional. We really enjoyed our server, Carlos R, who was friendly, professional and gave us great food recommendations. Would highly recommend for a date night or special event!

Update - Yunta is still a vibe and the food is yummy. I love going on Friday or Saturday for the live DJ. Service is quick and friendly. The food comes out as it is ready and I strongly recommend sharing plates with others.

Honestly this place is amazing. The ambiance left me speechless it's absolutely beautiful! It's very intimate, perfect for dates. They start of off with fried corn kernels which i love so much i could eat a whole bowl of them. For app i started off with the yuca ball and the fried pork the yuca balls where perfectly crispy and had a amazing cheese pull. The fried pork was flavorful and crispy and when eaten with the sweet potatoes it had a very flavorful contrast that i really enjoyed. The rice was amazing Full of flavor. The only thing that left me disappointed was my meal the octopus, don't get me wrong the octopus was perfectly tender but the flavor was just not there for me just bland, the chimichurri sauce gave it a hint of flavor but not enough. the octopus also didn't have any kind of crispy or smoke flavor which i was looking for because it was grilled. Also the potatoes where served to me cold the waiter fixed the problem without an issue and when i received the potatoes they where pretty basic the sauce that comes with it is very good but i wouldn't recommend this dish i wish i would have picked something else. As someone that had been to Peru i can definitely say they brong in the Peruvian flavor with the other dishes i would like to come back and try other items.

Yunta is incredible. The service is excellent. We had such a kind and attentive waiter named Daniel. He recommended a few of the menu highlights. We ordered and he certainly did not disappoint. Wow the food was remarkable, the presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were so unique and delicious. Def one of the best restaurants in Charlotte! Do not miss. Make a reservation ahead of time!

"Asian fusion" has passed beyond the experimental to the mainstream and the South-and-Central American influence is the newest and strongest of the meldings. At Yunta Nikkei that influence is Peruvian and more specifically Spanish moshed with Japanese. Their menu offers something for most palates and as a new experience for me, works well. Selections are seafood-heavy with many raw options including some excellent ceviches. I'll get nervous about sushi in a non-sushi kitchen for ingredients, skill and presentation. I should not have worried. For traditionalists, Peruvian meats are present with steak, chicken and potatoes featured as entrees and sides. The location is in a narrow space in a former industrial building fronting South Boulevard and shares frontage with a wine bar and Poppy's bagels (go there too). The large bar dominates and most tables are 2-tops. Our visit was a dice-roll Saturday evening visit at 6:30. The hostess was great - worked with us to get a 4-top by the door if we could turn the table under an hour. We agreed and it was on. We made quick drink and meal choices; the staff did the rest. I look for teamwork and watch the floor crew carefully. While our server Daniel handled the orders, every server visited us during the meal, water refills, order and drink deliveries and busing were seamless and shared. We were solidly impressed. We started with edamame, served grilled and salted in a mini skillet - have not tried it this way but it had a great smoky flavor and well salted. Yunta ceviche was next in a generous portioned bowl with corn, cubed sweet potato, squid, cooked shrimp and hamachi and yellowfin, in a super-tart limey broth that had to be sipped with a spoon. (Hint - choose this and get three times the fish as the sushi). Parrillero Maki brought 7-8 tempura shrimp, tuna and avacado rolls topped with tableside-seared chimichurri. This was not as strongly flavored as we would have liked but it was quality fish and prepared as well as most sushi restaurants. We moved on to two rice & protein bowls; both were piping hot and large portions. Arroz Chaufa combined chicken and pork but the rice is the star here, topped with toasted crispy chip twists. Arroz con Mariscos was the best non-paella paella l have ever eaten, with octopus, squid, shrimp and scallops served at 350 degrees. I could not shovel this in my mouth fast enough. The concerned table next to us watched the steam from the miso rice with peas coming out of my nose and ears and asked for their check. As reservations starting coming in we moved outside to the front patio to finish drinks and were offered a fine looking dessert plate that we passed on (this time). Kudos to the management for working us in, and to the staff who gave us a great meal and experience in just an hour. Do make a reservation or go light and hit the bar, but expect tight seating and a crowded space with a dub house music vibe (just right and not too loud). Prices are excellent for our meal; I've spent similar money recently at a steak-centric joint and an Italian place nearby and this was by far the best meal. After kicking myself for driving by here daily and never bothering to research, this will be a solid part of our rotation and is a rare five star review for me.

Great Peruvian/Japanese restaurant! Cool decor and classy. Went for lunch and ordered croquettes, chicharron, Peruvian seafood risotto, and beef anticucho. Everything was tasty and fresh. The cocktails were good too!

What a great spot! Came for a birthday lunch with a large party and had a lovely time. Drinks were amazing, service was great, cutest decorations, good vibes, spectacular food, can't wait to come back! Parking was easy. I've never liked ceviche before but I LOVED it here. I got the bento box and everything was amazing. I'm getting hungry writing this review, I cannot wait to come back.

If you plan on coming here.. even on a weekday for an early bird special.. MAKE A RESERVATION! My friends and I learned the hard way that you can't get a table for 4 around 6pm on a weekday.. but we did score a spot at one of the 2 outdoor tables.. which are first come/first served. I ordered the pisco and shiso drink to start. It was wonderfully spicy yet fruity. The alcohol wasn't overwhelming and it tasted more like a fruity spicy ginger beer. I had a bite of the panza which is like a salmon belly nigiri with lemon zest and crunchy quinoa. Yum! You have to ask for soy sauce.. but my friends enjoyed it without just the same. It was very fresh. For dinner I had the arroz con mariscos. It was a huge portion! I had leftovers. Served in a hot skillet and loaded with seafood. There was a decent variety of seafood mixed into the rice. Reason for 4 stars is that our waiter spilled an entire beer on our table.. and on one of my friends. We know this happens unfortunately and my friend was not upset (accidents happen) but nothing was offered outside of an apology (at least comp the drink you spilled on us)! It's street parking. The parking lot that is mentioned in other reviews is so tiny I wouldn't even bother checking it out.

For appetizers my party and I have tried the tuna ceviche with the three different flavors. It was amazing! For the Mai course I went for the Passion Limo Tradito. The service was nice. The server kept changing our plates every time before we eat something different. I guess so that we get to try the uniqueness of the flavor of every dish with mixing it with the previous dish

The worst part of our experience at Yunta is, we live in St Louis. Nothing compares to Yunta over here. Our service was amazing, we ordered several courses and everything was timed really well considering they were also very busy. The decor was very dark and romantic. If we lived here, this would be a monthly regular for us for sure. Every plate had so much flavor, I ordered ceviche for myself and it was the best ceviche I have had in a long time. I also had 2 different cocktails, they were both pretty and flavorful.
